Automobili Lamborghini SpA, commonly referred to as Lamborghini, is an Italian automobile based in the small town of Sant'Agata Bolognese. The company was founded in 1963 by its founder Ferruccio Lamborghini manufacturing king. This has changed ownership several times since, most recently became a subsidiary of German car manufacturer Audi AG (itself a subsidiary of Volkswagen Group) in 1998. Lamborghini has achieved wide recognition for the slender, exotic design, and the car has become a symbol of performance and wealth.

Founder Ferruccio Lamborghini enters the car manufacturing business with the aim of producing high quality tourists who can beat and outclass offerings from local rivals Ferrari SpA was achieved by the company's first model, 350GT and 400GT.Lamborghini again met with success in 1966 with the release of mid-engined sports coupé Miura, and in 1968 with GT Espada, who last sold more than 1,200 units over ten years of production. After nearly a decade of rapid growth, and the release of the classic models such as the Countach of 1974, the company hit hard times in the late 1970s, as sales plunged in after the 1973 oil crisis. Bankruptcy crippling car, and after passing through the hands of a Swiss businessman, Lamborghini comes under the umbrella of industry giant Chrysler.

American companies fail to make profitable Italian manufacturer, and in 1994, the company is sold to Indonesian interests. Lamborghini will remain on life support for the rest of the 1990s, continually update Diablo in 1990 as a replacement for a planned expanded offerings, including the smaller cars that appeal to American fans. Reeling from the Asian financial crisis of the previous year, in 1998 Lamborghini sold the car owners in trouble for AUDI AG, the luxury car subsidiary of German automotive conglomerate Volkswagen AG. Ownership of Germany marked the beginning of the period of stability and increased productivity for the Lamborghini, with sales increasing nearly ten-fold during the next decade.
